Town Museum Horní Slavkov

The Horní Slavkov Town Museum (in German: Schlaggenwald) is housed in a Gothic-Renaissance house that probably served as a farm building for the neighbouring manor house, the so-called Plough House (manor house of the town owners, the noble family Pluh of Rabštejn). The museum presents historical milestones in the development of Horní Slavkov.

A very interesting architectural part of the house is the preserved black kitchen chimney including the chimney. In the museum you will find an extensive mineralogical collection, where the most common precious stones and minerals from Slavkovský les are exhibited.
Of fundamental importance for the development of the town is the history associated with mining, i.e. with the extraction and processing of tin and uranium. You will learn everything about the town, from the beginnings of placer mining in the 9th century, through its position as one of the most important mining towns in the Czech Kingdom, to the present day.

The first porcelain factory in Bohemia was located on the territory of Horní Slavkov, which was also one of the first in Europe, which is why part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Haas & Czjzek porcelain factory.
